School as Living Space

Analysis, creation and improvement of the “school life surroundings” and the resulting extension of individual perceptions and communication abilities

Aims

  • active analysis of the classroom itself
  • identification with “school”
  • awareness raising for the mental states of the classmates
  • strengthening of the self-confidence
  • reduction of aggressive behavior
  • respectful cooperation by respectful handling of the room
  • use of all senses
  • creation of questionnaires
  • gathering and analysis of facts
  • implementation of the analysis into reality

Methodology/Contents

  • sensitization for the impact of a room by the means of speeches and workshops
  • learning about the effects of music, color, odors, and the like by experimental series
  • using simulation glasses in order to sense the room in a different way
  • learning which materials are felt as pleasing by using different materials
  • gaining insight into working life by the fabrication of natural colors
  • gaining an environmentally aware attitude by the exposure to natural materials

  • sensitization of individual perceptions by experimental series
  • conjoint design of the classroom
  • conjoint compilation of the project documentation
  • presentation of the results to other involved classes
  • allocation of the project documentation to interested classes
