I speak, therefore I am

Aims

  • We researched into the highly differentiated terms which denote family relationships in the various mother tongues of our students; we also dealt with antithetical terms such as good/bad, yes/no, love/hatred.
  • We reflected on potential conflicts and on the striving for harmony within a family system or within a cultural community.
  • We had a look at the tradition of writing systems concerning the various languages spoken by the pupils of our school.
  • We considered further ways of cooperation between the university on the one hand and our school on the other hand. A possible starting point for further research might be the sociolect of young migrants or the establishment of intercultural conflict management methods, based on linguistic "stumbling blocks" which might be turned into bridges between different cultures.

As this project was part of the "PROJECT MANAGEMENT CLASS" at our school, teamwork has been an essential aspect of our work.
